Buffer
What is it?
Buffers are used to protect computers from any potential electrical damage. An interface might sometimes draw or send current more than needed from the parallel port and this could result in damage to the interface. Therefore, between any interface and a computer, a buffer chip is connected.

It contains twenty pins in which tenth is the ground and twentieth is the power. This buffer has eight inputs and eight outputs. A1 to A8 are the input pins and B1 to B7 are the output pins. As the chip is directional, depending on the settings on the buffer, the direction of the electric current passing through it can be selected. When DIR is 1, data flows through input from A to output on B. Alternately, when DIR is 0, data starts to travel through input of B to output on A. |
